Rumor has it that HBS launched this program for non-business majors, such as natural science or social science. So if you are in bioengineering, or computer science, or EE, then you are already at an advantage to apply. That said, theyare by no means exclusive. They will accept any excellent ambitious student with clear career vision and great leadership.I know one person they accepted interned in Goldman Sachs.
Class profile of the first 2+2students:

Humanities and Social Sciences
49%

Engineering and Natural Sciences
48%

Business Administration
3%

It is a special program for college students. You will know that you are accepted by the start of your senior year, so that you don’t need to work for a particular company for the sole purpose of getting into business school more easily. HBS wants to diversify their class from consulting/IB-dominant, so 2+2gives you the freedom to choose a non-traditional path to an MBA.

A habit of leadership, capacity for intellectual growth and engaged community citizenship. (http://www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/admissioncriteria.html
)

I don’t know.
But the average GPA for the first 2+2 students is 3.73 and average GMAT score is718.

A school interview is quite different from a job interview. They just want to know more about you. So no pressure interview. No technical questions. I would suggest writing down a list of things about yourself that you would like the interviewer to know but didn’t show on the application.
I’ve attached a list of HBS questions compiled by previous HBS applicants.

First of all, I don’t believe that you can’t find a job. You may not be able to find an ideal job, but a job can be anything from working in NGO to starting one’s own business, from working for a shop to doing research. Not just IB/consulting is counted as a “job”. Every job ends up to be not as differentas you think. OK. Enough didacticism. HBS gives you access to a list of recruiting partners. These are companies that are interested in taking 2+2students. But the only thing they have really agreed to do is to respond to requests from a 2+2 student. They don’t have a separate or expedite application process for 2+2 students, or at least not yet, and they can refer you to a campus recruiter, or asks you to submit your application online, or if the company recruits on your campus, tells you to ask your Career Services about the time line and application procedures. They also match you with a career coach, who will advise you throughout your job search till the offer negotiation step. With all that help, it is your responsibility to find a job for yourself.

Yes. Their admission is need-blind and their goal is to give full financial support to every admitted student. They have need-based fellowships available.Refer to:
HBS Fellowships are awarded based on financial need. Your academic or professional performance/merit are not used in financial aid decisions. Nearly50% of the class receives an average of approximately$23,000 per year in need-based HBS Fellowships.

  • In general, we expect that a student will have saved a percentage of his/her income from each of the prior three years. This expected percentage will vary depending on your prior income. Students with higher earnings are expected to contribute to the costs of their MBA at a higher rate than students with lower earnings.
  • Any HBS Fellowship award will be based on an analysis of your income for the prior three years and your assets. If you are married, we will also consider your spouse's income and assets, and your higher cost of living will be a factor.
  • There will be a base loan package before any fellowship is awarded. The average MBA debt for the class of 2008 was $80,525.
  • HBS Fellowships will fund your financial need (as determined by MBA Financial Aid Services) beyond the base loan package and your student contribution.

This is going to be a very subjective answer, since I can only say for myself.I think a great leader sees and makes changes, takes initiative, develops other people, solves conflicts etc. There are two types of leaders: collaborative and directive. You can think for yourself which one you are and you might be asked this question during interview since I was. Also refer to ADMISSION CRITERIA:
http://www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/admissioncriteria.html

Since you are a college student, HBS doesn't require a job reference. You can totally ask two professors to write recommendations for you. Just try to pick the ones that have things to say about your candidacy for a business school rather than for a physics graduate program. You can send your resume along with a description of HBS admission criteria (
http://www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/admissioncriteria.html).Ialso recommend that, if you can, try to bring a job reference to the interview if you didn’t include one in your two references. It can be from the internship you are doing that summer, or previous internships. It’s always nice for a business school admission board to have some business reference about you.

I am not a candidate to answer this question well since I don’t have suchs truggle, but I will tell you what I think. It all depends on what you want to do. For example, if you are not at all interested in how a company operates, or how you can grow a company to the next stage, then you should go with Master in Finance, or even doctor. If you have broad interests and don't want to narrow your opportunities to finance, then you should go with an MBA. MBA teaches you many other things than finance, but wouldn’t go as deep in finance as a master in finance would do.

You don’t join an extracurricular activity because it will look good on the application. And you don’t start preparing for the application from first year or high school. If you are thinking about applying for business schools, you are probably a more interesting person than just a good student, so what is interesting about you that makes you standout will differentiate you from other applicants. Which club you have joined doesn’t matter as much as what you have contributed to it. Look at the admission criteria and then you will know what activities, or what you actually did in those activities, matter.

I have been interested in business, or starting a business, for a while. I enjoy integrating resources, starting initiatives etc.and readily find interest in new things. Like I said, MBA allows me to maintain that broad range of interests and grants me opportunities to encounter exciting new things. Then I heard about the first launch of HBS 2+2 program. I thought that was an opportunity that God give me, since I was only a biochemistry major with a strong interest in business (hard to find a business job with a biochem major…)and this program encourages non-business major students! It never hurts to try.So why not.
This program allows me to think creatively about my two years before the MBA.It was designed to take off the mental burden of “I must go to IB/consulting or otherwise I’m doomed for my life”. You are not doomed if you are doing research in a biomedical lab but dreams to run a business.
